High-tech wood kilns are used to remove the moisture content from wood. Patented reinforcement is then applied to the handle, and the bat is completed with a two-coat lacquer finish. Finally, the bat is dyed in one of the seven standard colors. The main colors used are natural white, red stain, black, two-tone blue and white stain.

The bat's unique design allows hitting the ball from any side of the barrel. In some bats, handle parts are made of metal alloy or filter composite material, and the hitting part is made of wood. The barrels may be single-piece construction or made of two or more pieces. Laminated wooden bats can be designed by combining wood material, fiberglass, and carbon-reinforced handles and barrels. In aluminum bat construction, alloy-strengthening additives are used, which gives better performance and durability than wooden bats.
